Keppel FELS Brasil - Newbuilding & Conversion

Our in-depth operating experience in Brazil is entrenched by the delivery of some of the world's largest floating production units and the construction of deepwater semisubmersibles amongst other advanced offshore rigs and ships.

Growing our engineering and operational capabilities, we continue to achieve many firsts for Brazil's offshore and marine industry.

The DSS™ 38E semisubmersible drilling rig design is developed by Keppel's Deepwater Technology Group and GustoMSC to operate in Brazil, Africa and the Gulf of Mexico.

The DSS™ 38E design is an enhancement of Keppel's proven fifth generation deepwater solution, the DSS™ 38.

Tension leg wellhead platform (TLWP)

P-61 Tension Leg Wellhead Platform (TLWP) has been successfully installed in the Papa Terra Field, Campos Basin, offshore Brazil, at a water depth of 1,180 meters.

The completion of P-61 leveraged the combined strengths and expertise of FloaTEC, LLC (FloaTEC) and its parent companies McDermott and Keppel FELS.

The design, fabrication and completion of the TLWP was coordinated and executed by FloaTEC. The topsides were engineered in Houston by McDermott and constructed in Singapore by Keppel FELS.

Tendons and piles were constructed at the McDermott's fabrication facilities, while the hull was designed by FloaTEC in Houston and fabricated at BrasFELS yard. The topsides and hull were then integrated at BrasFELS using the float-over method.

Floating Production Units (FPUs)

Floating Production Units (FPUs)

Together with Keppel FELS, BrasFELS constructed the FPUs P-52 and P-51. These collaborations helped to pave the way for BrasFELS' undertaking of FPU P-56, which was delivered in 2011 and is 100% constructed in Brazil.

The three FPUs are now fully operational and have the capacity to collectively produce up to 460,000 barrels of oil per day.

In 2001, BrasFELS was conferred Brazil's first FPSO conversion and integration project. It was engaged by Halliburton to convert the ship Stena Concordia into FPSO P-48.

Since 2010, the yard has successfully completed seven FPSO projects - P-57 and FPSO Cidade de Paraty for SBM Offshore; FPSO Cidade de São Paulo, FPSO Cidade de Itaguai, FPSO Cidade de Mangaratiba, FPSO Cidade de Caraguatatuba for MODEC; and P-66 for Petrobras.

Platform Supply Vessels (PSVs)

Completed in 2005, the two UT745L PSVs for Maersk were the largest PSVs to be built in Brazil at that time.

These ships are well-suited for operating in harsh environments and comply with stringent international shipbuilding standards.
