Keppel Singmarine delivers two tractor berthing tugs

Keppel Singmarine Dockyard (Keppel Singmarine), a member of the Keppel Hitachi Zosen Group, has delivered on schedule two tractor berthing tugs to River Wijs Pty Ltd, a joint venture between the Wijsmuller Group of Holland and Riverside Marine of Australia.

At the naming and delivery ceremony held on 22 June 2000, the tugs were christened ‘Riverwijs Grace’ and ‘Riverwijs Isabelle’ by 18-month old Ms Grace Campbell (daughter of Mr Hume Campbell, Managing Director of Riverwijs Pty Ltd and Riverside Marine) and eight-year old Ms Isabelle Wijsmuller (daughter of

Mr Michael Wijsmuller, Managing Director of the Wijsmuller Group), respectively.

At the ceremony, Mr Lum Chee Kong, General Manager of Keppel Singmarine Dockyard said, "We thank both the Wijsmuller Group and Riverside Marine for commissioning Keppel Singmarine to build these tugs.

"Our strength lies in building tugs and specialised vessels, including sophisticated Anchor Handling Tug and Supply (AHTS) vessels.

"With our expertise in these areas, we look forward to working on more projects with the Wijsmuller Group and Riverside Marine in the near future."

‘Riverwijs Grace’ and ‘Riverwijs Isabelle’ are classed by the American Bureau of Shipping under +A1 (E) "Towing Vessel (Fire Fighting Capability)" + AMS.

The vessels have a bollard pull of 43 tonnes and are equipped with fire-fighting capabilities. Chartered to the Port of Bunbury, they will be deployed in Western Australian waters.

Keppel Singmarine is also currently building another two tugs and a crane barge for Bin Nowiran Establishment of Kuwait, which are expected to be delivered in the first quarter of 2001
