Keppel Offshore & Marine Technology Centre (KOMtech)
KOMtech was launched in end 2007 to boost our R&D edge and position the company for long-term growth.
The Centre’s job scope involves R&D for new technologies and processes. Priority is placed on innovations with greater potential for commercialisation, and whose returns may be reaped in the near term.
KOMtech is also focused on developing competencies ranging from technologies that can enhance existing rig solutions to those that have the potential to disrupt the Group’s businesses.
The Centre has also tapped into the expertise of various centres of excellence. It is working closely with local and overseas tertiary institutions to grow its knowledge base.

Offshore Technology Development (OTD)
OTD is at the forefront of developing technology and techniques in the design of new generation jackup rigs and their critical systems.
Building on its strength in offshore jackup units, Keppel FELS works closely with this sister company to provide winning solutions for customers.
OTD has developed a number of patented critical jackup rig components including jacking systems, self positioning fixation systems, and skidding systems which are used on all Keppel FELS jackup rigs.

Deepwater Technology Group (DTG)
DTG develops and designs deepwater semisubmersibles and other floating structures.
This innovative technology arm lends itself to enhance Keppel FELS’ ability to deliver better products and services in a competitive deepwater market.
DTG owns a suite of proprietary deepwater drilling systems such as semisubmersible drilling units and tenders, enabling the company to provide design and engineering solutions from concept stage to delivery.
Continuously seeking cost-efficient solutions for the industry, DTG has developed a new drilling rig design called the Extendable Draft Semi (ESEMI) that is ideally suited for operations in areas with water depths of more than 5,000 ft. This floater design is the cost-efficient alternative to the Spar which is the current concept available in the market.

Marine Technology Development (MTD)
MTD was established to focus on the design and development of offshore support and maintenance vessels.
MTD delivers turnkey solutions to customers by packaging critical vessel equipment in its designs. Focused on the future, the technology unit is building a core group of experienced ship designers to capable to developing improved vessel designs and foreseeing new technological developments.
